THE Government has continued to strengthen the use of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in delivering public services, with the eRITA digital system expected to enable Tanzanians without birth certificates to obtain them within 48 hours.
The remarks were made by the Minister for Constitutional and Legal Affairs, Dr. Juma Zuberi Homera, during his visit to the Ministry’s pavilion at the 50th Dar es Salaam International Trade Fair, popularly known as Sabasaba.
Dr. Homera said the eRITA system is part of the Government’s digital transformation agenda aimed at simplifying, accelerating and improving transparency in the delivery of essential public services.
He said the system has brought significant improvements to birth and death registration services by reducing the long waiting periods previously experienced by citizens seeking birth certificates.
“The eRITA digital system has become a highly effective tool within this institution because it will simplify access to birth certificates. Instead of waiting for a long time, citizens can now obtain their certificates within 48 hours,” Dr. Homera said.
He also urged members of the public to visit the Ministry of Constitutional and Legal Affairs pavilion at the Sabasaba Trade Fair to access various legal services, as well as birth and death registration services.
He said visitors to the pavilion will receive legal assistance, professional advice and guidance on how to address various legal challenges they may face.
“After visiting our pavilion, citizens will receive legal support, professional advice and guidance on how to deal with their legal challenges, including being connected with a lawyer where necessary,” he said.
Dr. Homera added that the Ministry is committed to ensuring that citizens access services easily and on time, while continuing to improve digital systems for public service delivery.
He also commended the Ministry’s Permanent Secretary and technical experts for the strong preparations made for the Ministry’s pavilion at this year’s trade fair.
