Tanzania is set to benefit from USD 447.12 million and an additional Euro 500,000 following its participation in the 30th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP30), recently held in Belém, Brazil.
In addition, the country is expected to access between USD 5 million and 20 million for the implementation of climate change response projects through the Loss and Damage Fund.
The disclosure was made,December 17, 2025, in Dar es Salaam by the Deputy Permanent Secretary (Environment) in the Vice President’s Office, Prof Peter Msoffe, while opening a Stakeholders’ Meeting to receive and discuss Tanzania’s report on its participation in COP30. He spoke on behalf of the Permanent Secretary in the Vice President’s Office, Engineer Cyprian Luhemeja.
Prof Msoffe said the objective of the meeting was to highlight and deliberate on various opportunities aimed at supporting communities in addressing the impacts of climate change through environmental projects implemented by the government, under the Vice President’s Office, in collaboration with stakeholders.
He added that Tanzania has continued to strengthen its international standing through its role as Chair of the African Group of Negotiators (AGN), a position that has enabled key African priorities to be discussed and adopted. Among them are the clean cooking energy agenda and the approval of the Mission 300 initiative, which seeks to ensure access to affordable electricity for all.
“We have witnessed positive outcomes from the conference, including decisions by member states to facilitate the establishment of the Santiago Network on Loss and Damage Regional Office in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. Furthermore, the global clean cooking energy agenda continues to gain momentum under the leadership of Her Excellency Dr Samia Suluhu Hassan, President of the United Republic of Tanzania,” Prof Msoffe said.
He emphasized that the gains realized from COP30 demonstrate Tanzania’s growing leadership in global climate negotiations and its commitment to advancing practical solutions that enhance climate resilience and sustainable development.
