The Rural Electrification Authority (REA) of Zambia has concluded a nine-day study tour in Tanzania, applauding the country's remarkable achievements in expanding electricity access to rural communities.
Speaking during a wrap-up meeting held on Monday, June 29, 2026, at the REA offices in Upanga, Dar es Salaam, the representative of the REA Zambia Chief Executive Officer, Engineer Suzyo Silavwe, expressed appreciation to Tanzania's Ministry of Energy and its institutions for organising the visit and facilitating knowledge exchange.
Engineer Silavwe said the delegation had benefited from technical discussions and field visits to various rural electrification projects implemented by Tanzania's Rural Energy Agency (REA), describing the experience as both insightful and inspiring.
"We have had productive engagements aimed at sharing knowledge and experiences. We have learned a great deal and witnessed significant progress in rural electrification projects implemented by REA Tanzania," he said.
On their part, the Ministry of Energy's Assistant Director of Administration, Wilson Nyamanga, and the Director of Rural Electrification at Tanzania's Rural Energy Agency, Engineer Jones Olotu, said the Zambian delegation's visit reflects growing regional recognition of Tanzania's success in extending electricity services to rural communities.
They noted that continued cooperation between the two countries will strengthen regional efforts to improve energy access and promote socio-economic development across Africa.
