PSSSF Wins Top Prize for Excellence in Financial Reporting

The Public Service Social Security Fund (PSSSF) has been awarded First Prize for Excellence in Financial Reporting for the year ending 2024, under the social security category, in the annual awards presented by the National Board of Accountants and Auditors (NBAA).

The award was presented by Deputy Minister for Finance, Hon. Laurent Deogratius Luswetula, to PSSSF Director of Finance, Ms. Neema Kuwite, who received it on behalf of the Director General during a ceremony held in Dar es Salaam on the night of December 4, 2025.

“We are grateful to God and extremely delighted to receive this award. We have maintained consistency as we did last year. I thank the Board of Trustees and Management for their excellent supervision, as well as all employees for their cooperation and professionalism,” Ms. Kuwite said after receiving the award.

She added that PSSSF’s recognition demonstrates that the Fund consistently adheres to international accounting standards that guide best practices in financial reporting within the social security sector.

“We assure all our stakeholders, including pensioners, that PSSSF remains their lasting comfort today and in the future. They can be confident that their benefits will continue to be paid reliably because the Fund is financially strong,” she emphasized.

Explaining the criteria used to determine the winners, NBAA Executive Director, CPA Pius A. Maneno, said a total of 86 public and private institutions participated in the submission of financial statements for the year ending 2024.

“We give institutions our accounting standards and a comprehensive checklist. To win, an institution must meet as many as possible out of more than 1,392 assessment items. Those scoring above 75 percent emerge as winners. We also consider whether an institution received a clean audit report,” said CPA Maneno.

On his part, Deputy Minister for Finance Hon. Luswetula congratulated all the winners and urged them to continue upholding professionalism so they can remain champions, while encouraging those who did not meet the required standards to improve in order to perform better in future competitions.
