TAEC AND WOMEN’S PARTICIPATION IN INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY CELEBRATIONS

The Tanzania Atomic Energy Commission (TAEC) has continued to demonstrate its commitment to promoting gender equality and empowering women through its participation in the International Women’s Day celebrations held in Arusha City. Women from TAEC took part in the event in solidarity, carrying the national message aligned with the country’s development vision: “Rights and equality for women and girls as a foundation for an inclusive path toward Vision 2050.”

TAEC, as a national institution responsible for regulating and ensuring the safe use of radiation and nuclear technologies, has placed strong emphasis on ensuring that women actively participate in both professional and operational responsibilities.

Women’s involvement in research, radiation regulation, and community education reflects their direct contribution to safeguarding public health, protecting the environment, and promoting the development of industries and agriculture.

The celebrations were honored by the presence of the Regional Commissioner of Arusha, who attended as the guest of honor. In his address, he emphasized that the contribution of women is clear evidence of the nation’s capacity to achieve its major development goals.

The Regional Commissioner called for continued investment in girls’ education and the expansion of leadership opportunities for women, noting that gender equality is essential for achieving the National Development Vision 2050.

Women at TAEC have been at the forefront in several key areas, including:
Ensuring effective radiation control for the safety of society;
Conducting scientific research that supports the health, agriculture, and industrial sectors;
Providing education and training to stakeholders on the safe use of radiation.

Through these contributions, TAEC has demonstrated its commitment to building an inclusive and equitable working environment, ensuring that women actively participate in the nation’s development journey.

During the celebrations, TAEC women also used the platform to encourage the community to recognize the role of women in science and technology, emphasizing that every girl has the potential to contribute to critical national sectors.

These International Women’s Day celebrations clearly show that TAEC is not only a regulatory institution but also a platform for advancing gender equality and strengthening national unity.

The participation of TAEC women, supported by the Commission’s management, reflects the institution’s commitment to supporting Tanzania in moving toward a future of hope and sustainable development, where women and girls will be central to achieving the National Vision 2050.
