Tanzania and Turkey have agreed to establish a cooperation framework that will enable Tanzanian youth to benefit from training opportunities, business exposure and networking through the Young MÜSİAD Platform, with the aim of strengthening business skills, human capital development and investment ties between the two countries.
The agreement was announced by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Community Development, Gender, Women and Special Groups, Dr John Jingu, during his official working visit to Turkey on December 18, 2025.
Dr Jingu said the discussions focused on enhancing bilateral cooperation in youth economic empowerment through apprenticeship programmes, innovation, technology and exchange visits, which will allow young people to gain practical experience and expertise in the business sector.
He noted that the initiative is anchored on the strong and growing trade relations between Tanzania and Turkey, adding that both countries are committed to further strengthening cooperation in order to stimulate trade balance growth and maximise economic benefits derived from the business sector.
As part of implementing the agreed areas, Dr Jingu said Tanzania will prepare and submit a draft Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) outlining the scope of cooperation, including additional areas where the country can benefit through the MÜSİAD network, particularly in youth and women economic empowerment through entrepreneurship and business development.
“MÜSİAD is a reputable and experienced business association in Turkey and globally, with over 35 years of experience in trade and economic sectors. It has more than 60,000 members across 25 sectors. Through this cooperation, Tanzania stands to gain significantly in ensuring that its youth and women access valuable opportunities,” said Dr Jingu.
He further explained that, in line with national priorities, the Government of Tanzania has taken deliberate measures to enhance youth economic participation by equipping them with essential soft skills, enabling them to manage their economic activities professionally and improve their livelihoods.
During the visit, Dr Jingu also held discussions with the leadership of the Independent Industrialists and Businessmen’s Association (MÜSİAD) and the Women and Democracy Foundation (KADEM) of Turkey.
In addition, he met and exchanged views with Mr Osman Nuri Önügören, Chairperson of the Diplomacy Relations Commission, in talks that were attended by several senior officials from the association.
The engagements are expected to further strengthen people-to-people relations and unlock new opportunities for Tanzanian youth and women within the Turkish business ecosystem.
