The Ministry of Communication and Information Technology has urged Tanzanians, particularly farmers, to embrace the National Residential Addressing System, describing it as an essential tool for improving service delivery and supporting the country's socio-economic development.
The remarks were made in Dodoma by the Assistant Director of Residential Addressing at the Ministry, Engineer Edith Turuka, during the 33rd National Farmers' Exhibition (Nanenane 2026), currently underway at the Dr. John Samuel Malecela Agricultural Exhibition Grounds.
Engineer Turuka said the Ministry is using the exhibition to educate the public about its various services, including cybersecurity, digital government systems, and the National Residential Addressing System, which plays a vital role in connecting service providers with citizens.
She explained that visitors to the Ministry's pavilion can verify their residential addresses, update inaccurate address information, and access a range of digital services offered through the Residential Addressing System.
"The Residential Addressing System is a critical infrastructure for national development. It strengthens communication between service providers and citizens while enhancing the efficiency of both public and private service delivery," she said.
She added that the system also enables citizens to obtain digital residential introduction letters, identify nearby essential service locations, and securely share their verified addresses with institutions and organizations that provide services.
According to Engineer Turuka, the system offers significant benefits to the agricultural sector by enabling farmers to receive agricultural inputs, equipment, and other products at their exact locations through accurate residential addresses.
She noted that farmers can also use the system to locate nearby agricultural service providers, including input suppliers, extension services, and other essential facilities that support increased productivity.
Engineer Turuka encouraged all visitors attending the Nanenane Exhibition to visit the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology's pavilion to learn more about the Residential Addressing System and update or verify their residential address information so they can fully benefit from the country's expanding digital services.
