Dodoma District Commissioner, Alhaj Jabir Shekimweri, has commended the Dodoma City Council for participating in the 50th Dar es Salaam International Trade Fair, popularly known as Sabasaba, saying the move demonstrates the council’s commitment to promoting investment opportunities and the city’s growth.
Speaking after visiting the Dodoma City Council pavilion at the Mwalimu Julius Nyerere Trade Fair Grounds, Shekimweri said every available platform should be used to market Dodoma as a rapidly growing city that is ready to receive major investments.
He congratulated Dodoma City Director, Dr Frederick Sagamiko, and the Mayor, Alimwoni Chaula, for their leadership and efforts to advance the city’s development vision.
“I extend my sincere congratulations to the City Director and the Mayor for effectively managing the council and steering the growth vision of Dodoma City.
Every available opportunity to promote Dodoma’s position in its growth journey should be utilised with urgency,” Shekimweri said.
He also praised the council’s team of officials, including officers from the business, land and information departments, for working together during the exhibition and providing information to stakeholders visiting their pavilion.
Shekimweri said he was impressed by how the Dodoma City Council was promoting the various opportunities available in the city, particularly in agriculture and agro-processing.
He cited opportunities in grape, apple, sunflower, cashew nut and other fruit production, noting that investment in processing and value addition could stimulate the economy of residents and the city as a whole.
According to Shekimweri, Dodoma Regional Commissioner Rosemary Senyamule has continued to emphasise apple production, with Dodoma expected to become one of the country’s major apple-producing areas in the future.
Meanwhile, Neema Fundi from Dane Wine Company said they were encouraged by the District Commissioner’s visit, noting that visits by leaders motivate exhibitors to continue showcasing their products and services.
“I am happy to see leaders passing by to ask about the work we do and the challenges we face. We are very encouraged,” Fundi said.
