DEPUTY MINISTER SALOME LEADS TANZANIA DELEGATION AT INDIA ENERGY WEEK 2026


The Deputy Minister for Energy, Hon. Salome Makamba, on January 27, 2026, participated in the opening of the India Energy Week (IEW 2026), an international forum aimed at discussing and formulating joint strategies to promote sustainable and inclusive growth of the energy sector, while also identifying various investment opportunities available in partner countries and the best ways to access them.

The event was officially opened by the Prime Minister of India, Hon. Narendra Modi, in the State of Goa, India, and has brought together participants from more than 125 countries, including government leaders, energy experts, investors, and private sector stakeholders.

During the event, Hon. Salome was accompanied by the Ambassador of the United Republic of Tanzania to India, H.E. Ambassador Anisa Mbega, the Director General of the Energy and Water Utilities Regulatory Authority (EWURA), Dr. James Andilile, the Assistant Commissioner for Electricity Development from the Ministry of Energy, Mr. Styden Rwebangila, as well as other experts from the Ministry of Energy, the Tanzania Petroleum Development Corporation (TPDC), and the Petroleum Upstream Regulatory Authority (PURA).

Tanzania’s participation in IEW 2026 reflects the Government’s commitment to strengthening international cooperation, attracting investment in the energy sector, and exchanging experience and technologies that will accelerate sustainable development of the sector in the country.
