TANZANIA, SAUDI ARABIA TO EXPAND EDUCATION OPPORTUNITIES

Minister for Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Adolf Mkenda, has held talks with the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to Tanzania, H.E. Yahya Bin Ahmed Okeish, focusing on strengthening cooperation in the education sector and expanding scholarship opportunities for Tanzanian youth.

Prof. Mkenda expressed appreciation to the Saudi government for increasing higher education scholarship slots for Tanzanian students from 90 to 127, assuring that the Government will make full use of the opportunities to enable more young people to access quality education in Saudi Arabia.

He noted that the Government continues to implement various strategies to ensure youth acquire relevant skills in priority and strategic fields, including Science, Technology, Engineering, Statistical Sciences and Artificial Intelligence.

For his part, Ambassador Okeish said Saudi Arabia is proud of its long-standing cooperation with Tanzania in the education sector and will continue to support initiatives aimed at advancing education and skills development for Tanzanian youth in line with national priorities.

He further commended the Ministry of Education for its strong Education Policy and its planned visit to Saudi Arabia to tour various universities, exchange experiences, and widen education opportunities for students from both countries. The discussions also highlighted the importance of strengthening Arabic language teaching and expanding academic collaboration.
