The Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism, Dr. Hassan Abbasi, has said that strategic investments made by the Government under the leadership of President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan in conservation and tourism have enabled Tanzania to win multiple international tourism awards.

Dr. Abbasi made the remarks on December 10, 2025, during a special phone interview on the Clouds 360 programme aired by Clouds Television.

“President Samia has continued to transform the tourism sector, including participating in major promotional films such as Tanzania The Royal Tour and Amazing Tanzania, as well as investing heavily in various conservation areas across the country,” he said.

He elaborated that Tanzania recently secured several accolades at the World Travel Awards (WTA) 2025, held in Bahrain on December 6, 2025, including winning World’s Leading Safari Destination for the third consecutive year.

Other recognitions include Zanzibar (Spice Islands) winning the World MICE Awards 2025 as Africa’s Best Meetings and Conference Destination, and Serengeti National Park being named the World’s Best National Park 2025.

Additionally, Tanzania scooped two awards in the private sector category: World’s Best Hot Air Balloon Safari Company, won by Serengeti Balloon Safaris, and World’s Best Island Resort, awarded to Jumaira Thanda Resort located on Mafia Island.

Dr. Abbasi further noted that Tanzania remains among the African countries that recorded the highest growth in tourist numbers before and after the COVID-19 pandemic.
