FDH COMMENDS PSPTB FOR INCLUSIVE SERVICES FOR PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES

By Carlos Claudio, Dodoma

Foundation for Disabilities Hope (FDH) has commended the Procurement and Supplies Professionals and Technicians Board (PSPTB) for its efforts to ensure the inclusion of people with disabilities in service delivery and various social and economic activities.

Speaking to journalists, FDH Executive Director Maiko Salali said the organisation had used the opportunity to recognise and commend government and non-government institutions that have been contributing to the empowerment and inclusion of people with disabilities.

He said FDH recognises PSPTB’s contribution towards creating a friendly and enabling environment for people with disabilities, including ensuring that they have opportunities to participate in procurement, supply, and service delivery activities.

“We are using this opportunity to sincerely commend the PSPTB Board for its significant contribution towards empowering people with disabilities and ensuring their inclusion in service delivery,” Salali said.

He said such efforts are an important part of building an inclusive society that leaves no one behind, particularly in access to services, disability-friendly infrastructure, and various opportunities.

Salali added that FDH appreciates the way PSPTB leadership, under its Executive Director, CPSP Godfred Mbanyi, has continued to consider the needs of people with disabilities in carrying out its responsibilities.

He also commended the leadership and management of PSPTB for continuing to put the principles of disability inclusion into practice.

Meanwhile, Salali commended President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, saying her leadership has continued to provide impetus for ensuring that various groups, including people with disabilities, are taken into consideration in the implementation of government activities.

He said government institutions should continue translating the government’s vision on inclusion and participation of people with disabilities into practical action.

“We are proud to see efforts aimed at building a society that takes into account the needs of everyone, including people with disabilities,” he said.

Salali called on other public and private institutions, as well as various boards, to learn from the efforts being made by PSPTB in empowering and including people with disabilities.

He said such inclusion is essential in building an equitable society that provides everyone with opportunities to participate in social and economic activities without discrimination.

FDH has also called on institutions across the country to establish friendly and inclusive environments for people with disabilities to ensure that no one is left behind.
