By Our Reporter

Deputy Minister for Energy, Hon. Salome Makamba, has urged the public to access accurate information on the state of the electricity sub-sector in the country, while calling on the Energy and Water Utilities Regulatory Authority (EWURA) to continue providing public education and information on various government efforts to improve electricity services.

Hon. Makamba made the call today, August 13, 2026, when she visited the EWURA pavilion at the ongoing Kizimkazi Exhibition at Dimbani Grounds, Kizimkazi, Zanzibar.

Speaking during the visit, she said it was important for the public to have accurate information about the increase in electricity generation and availability in the country, which is enabling Tanzania to meet its current electricity demand.

“The cost of electricity in Tanzania is relatively lower compared to neighbouring countries, and the Government continues to make efforts to improve and strengthen electricity infrastructure to ensure reliable access to the service, a step that will contribute to the country’s economic development,” she added.

At the EWURA pavilion, Hon. Makamba was informed that the Authority is using the exhibition as an opportunity to educate the public on various regulatory matters, including customer service charters, proper and safe use of LPG cylinders, natural gas, electricity and water, investment opportunities in the regulated sectors and other related matters.
