TTCL REPORTS PROFIT GROWTH, EXPANDS DIGITAL SERVICES

By Carlos Claudio, Dar es Salaam

Tanzania Telecommunications Corporation (TTCL) has said it is continuing to strengthen communication services across the country through the National ICT Broadband Backbone, while reporting sustained profitability following operational and commercial reforms.

Speaking at the 50th Dar es Salaam International Trade Fair, popularly known as Sabasaba, TTCL Director General CPA Moremi Marwa said the corporation is showcasing a range of digital solutions aimed at accelerating Tanzania’s transition to a digital economy.

He said the services include Supersonic Speed high-speed internet, the FTTX Experience Centre, which demonstrates smart home technology, and cloud computing services offered through the National Internet Data Centre (NIDC).

“A digital economy cannot be achieved without reliable communication networks and high-speed internet. That is why we continue to use the National Backbone to provide better and affordable services to Tanzanians,” Marwa said.

He explained that the technologies enable a wide range of digital applications, including home security systems, remote control of household appliances, online gaming and high-quality video services.

On financial performance, Marwa said TTCL recorded a profit of approximately Sh23 billion during the 2024/2025 financial year, while preliminary results for the 2025/2026 financial year indicate continued growth in both revenue and profit.

However, he said the full figures for the recently concluded financial year will be announced after they have been formally audited by the Controller and Auditor General (CAG).

Marwa attributed the performance to strategic reforms implemented within the corporation following directives by President Samia Suluhu Hassan to ensure TTCL operates on commercial principles, efficiency and profitability.

He added that TTCL will continue investing in communication infrastructure and innovative digital services to reach more Tanzanians, promote online businesses and strengthen the contribution of the communications sector to the country’s economic growth.
