Following the launch of Tanzania Development Vision 2050 by President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan in Dodoma on July 17, 2025, the country has officially commenced the implementation of the long-term national blueprint today, July 1, 2026.
The start of Vision 2050 implementation marks the successful conclusion of the Tanzania Development Vision 2025 and the beginning of a new 25-year journey aimed at transforming the nation's economy, society, and technological landscape.
According to the Permanent Secretary in the President's Office – Planning and Executive Secretary of the National Planning Commission, Dr. Tausi M. Kida, Vision 2050 is founded on a people-centred approach, with citizens at the heart of its implementation. From rural farmers to urban technology innovators, every Tanzanian is expected to play a vital role in driving the country's transformation.
"This is the time for every sector—both public and private—to integrate the priorities of Vision 2050 into their day-to-day operations, as its success depends on the active participation of every one of us," said Dr. Kida.
Vision 2050 aims to build an inclusive, prosperous, just, and self-reliant nation, supported by a resilient and inclusive economy. The blueprint targets expanding Tanzania's economy to a US$1 trillion GDP by 2050, positioning the country among the world's emerging high-performing economies.
