The Business Registrations and Licensing Agency (BRELA) has reaffirmed its commitment to improving Tanzania's business environment after winning third place in the category of institutions that facilitate business during the closing ceremony of the 50th Dar es Salaam International Trade Fair (Sabasaba).
The award was presented during the official closing ceremony held at the Mwalimu Julius K. Nyerere Trade Fair Grounds in Dar es Salaam, in the presence of the President of Zanzibar and Chairman of the Revolutionary Council, Dr. Hussein Ali Mwinyi.
Speaking after receiving the award, BRELA's Acting Chief Executive Officer, Seka Kasera, said the recognition reflects the agency's continued efforts to enhance service delivery through the BRELA Online System (BOS).
He noted that the digital platform has significantly improved access to business registration and licensing services, increased efficiency, and strengthened public confidence in BRELA's operations.
Kasera said BRELA's participation in this year's trade fair provided an important opportunity to engage directly with customers, receive feedback, identify challenges facing entrepreneurs, and gather valuable insights to further improve its services.
Throughout the exhibition, BRELA offered a wide range of services, including business name registration, company registration, licensing services, and public awareness sessions on its products and services. More than 1,200 entrepreneurs and business owners benefited from on-site services provided during the event.
In the competition among business facilitation institutions, the Tanzania Ports Authority (TPA) emerged as the overall winner, followed by the Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA) in second place, while BRELA secured third place, reinforcing its role as a key institution in promoting a more efficient and business-friendly environment in Tanzania.
