
The Disaster Management Department under the Prime Minister’s Office – Policy, Parliament, Coordination and Persons with Disabilities has provided capacity building to members of the District Disaster Management Technical Committee of Nkasi District, Rukwa Region, aimed at strengthening community resilience in times of disasters.
The training was conducted today, January 19, 2026, by a team of experts from the Prime Minister’s Office during a meeting to review draft Disaster Management documents for Nkasi District Council. The session involved members of the District Disaster Management Committees and was led by the Council’s management under the Executive Director.
The meeting was organized by the Prime Minister’s Office – Policy, Parliament, Coordination and Persons with Disabilities in collaboration with technical experts from Nkasi District Council. Its main objective was to orient participants on key disaster management documents prepared for use by the Council. These include the Disaster Risk Assessment, Vulnerability and Capacity Assessment, Disaster Preparedness and Response Plan, as well as the Disaster Risk Reduction Strategy.
Speaking after the meeting, the Acting District Executive Director of Nkasi District Council, Mr. Eliud Njogellah, expressed appreciation for the work done by the team that prepared the documents. He noted that the documents have come at the right time, as the Council has been experiencing various disasters and emergencies, and emphasized that they will be utilized effectively to achieve the intended outcomes.
