The Mining Commission in Tabora Region officially participated in the launch ceremony of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) projects held in Igunga District, Tabora Region. The event was officially opened by the Igunga District Commissioner, Hon. Sauda S. Mtondoo, and was attended by government leaders, stakeholders from the mining sector, and residents of the surrounding communities.
The launched projects include the construction of one classroom and a teachers’ office at Mkwabi Primary School, as well as the construction of water storage facilities in Nanga Village. The implementation of these projects aims to improve the teaching and learning environment in schools while increasing access to clean and safe water for residents, thereby contributing to the overall well-being of the community.

The projects were implemented by TAUR TANZANIA LTD at a cost of TZS 50 million during the 2024/2025 financial year, as part of the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility obligations in accordance with the laws and guidelines governing the mining sector in Tanzania.
Speaking at the event, the representative of the Tabora Regional Resident Mining Officer, Mr. Nehemia Mudala, urged mining companies to continue allocating and utilizing CSR funds in line with the priorities of the respective Local Government Authorities, particularly villages surrounding mining areas.
He further emphasized the importance of proper utilization, transparency, and accountability in the management of CSR funds, as well as the maintenance of the implemented infrastructure to ensure the projects deliver sustainable benefits to the community.
On her part, the Igunga District Commissioner commended TAUR TANZANIA LTD and other mining sector stakeholders for their contribution to the social and economic development of the people of Igunga District.
She stressed the need to strengthen collaboration between the Government, the private sector, and the community to ensure that development initiatives are inclusive and sustainable.
The participation of the Mining Commission in the event reflects the Government’s commitment to ensuring that the mining sector continues to contribute meaningfully to community development through the effective implementation of Corporate Social Responsibility projects.
