
The Vice President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Ambassador Dr Emmanuel Nchimbi, has represented President Dr Samia Suluhu Hassan at an Emergency Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Southern African Development Community (SADC), which was held virtually.
The meeting was chaired by the Acting SADC Chairperson, who is also the President of the Republic of South Africa, Mr Cyril Ramaphosa.
During the summit, leaders adopted various recommendations aimed at strengthening peace and security in the Republic of Madagascar. The meeting also called for inclusive national dialogue to pave the way for free and democratic elections in the country.
Furthermore, the summit endorsed the Republic of Zambia as the Incoming Acting Chairperson of the Southern African Development Community (SADC).
At the meeting, Vice President Nchimbi was accompanied by the Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, Dr Ngwaru Maghembe, and the Deputy Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, Ambassador Said Shaib Mussa.
