PBPA RAISES PUBLIC AWARENESS ON BULK PETROLEUM IMPORT SYSTEM AT NANENANE 2026

By Carlos Claudio, Dodoma.

The Petroleum Bulk Procurement Agency (PBPA) is participating in the 32nd Nanenane Agricultural Exhibition 2026 at the Dr. John Samuel Malecela Grounds in Nzuguni, Dodoma, where it is using the platform to educate the public on its mandate and its role in ensuring a reliable supply of petroleum products in Tanzania.

Speaking during the exhibition, PBPA Oil Quality Officer Datson Mwantuke said the Agency is providing information on its key responsibilities, including coordinating the bulk procurement and receipt of petroleum products, registering Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs), verifying companies seeking to distribute petroleum products in the country, and overseeing petroleum import tenders.

He said visitors are also being introduced to the modern Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system, which enables the Government to monitor, in real time, the volume of petroleum products entering the country through the ports of Dar es Salaam, Tanga, and Mtwara.

Mwantuke noted that PBPA is also educating the public on the Bulk Procurement System and its contribution to ensuring a steady supply of petroleum products, enhancing transparency in the importation process, and strengthening the country's energy security.

He added that the Agency's participation in the exhibition is aimed at strengthening communication with the public and stakeholders, receiving feedback, and providing clarification on its services and operations.

Members of the public have been encouraged to visit the PBPA pavilion at the Nanenane Exhibition Grounds in Nzuguni, Dodoma, to learn more about the Agency's responsibilities and its contribution to ensuring a secure and sustainable supply of petroleum products across the country.
