The Government has spoken out on the increasing reports of missing children being reported through the media and social media platforms, urging parents and guardians to take greater responsibility in protecting children in various settings, including schools and recreational areas.
The statement was made in Parliament in Dodoma by the Minister for Home Affairs, Patrobas Katambi, while responding to a question from Special Seats Member of Parliament for Kaskazini Unguja, Shadia Haji Omar, who sought clarification on cases of missing children, measures being taken by the Police Force, and access to information that could help locate the missing children.
Minister Katambi said the Government is also in the process of establishing special security systems to monitor various incidents, including the installation of surveillance cameras in different areas.
He said the systems are expected to strengthen security and assist authorities in locating missing children, as well as recovering lost property.
