TEA COMMENDED FOR STRENGTHENING EDUCATION, STAKEHOLDERS URGED TO SUPPORT THE EDUCATION FUND

By Carlos Claudio, Dar es Salaam.

The Tanzania Education Authority (TEA) has been commended for its significant contribution to strengthening the country's education sector through investments in educational infrastructure.

Development partners, the private sector, and the general public have also been encouraged to continue contributing to the National Education Fund to enhance the quality of education for present and future generations.

The remarks were made by the Director of the Department of Alternative and Adult Education in Zanzibar, Mashavu Ahmada Fakih, during a visit to the TEA pavilion at the 50th Dar es Salaam International Trade Fair (Sabasaba), currently taking place at the Julius Nyerere International Convention and Exhibition Grounds.

Mashavu said TEA has remained a key government partner in ensuring that every Tanzanian has access to education regardless of where they live, through the implementation of various educational development projects in both Mainland Tanzania and Zanzibar.

She noted that the authority has played a major role in improving teaching and learning environments by constructing new schools, renovating educational buildings, and rehabilitating infrastructure at various learning institutions.

According to her, TEA's contribution is especially important as the government continues implementing education sector reforms under the new competency-based curriculum, which aims to equip students with the knowledge, skills, and competencies needed to become self-reliant and actively contribute to national development.

She added that TEA's investments are producing positive results by preparing young people to overcome life challenges, compete effectively in the job market, and contribute to the country's economic growth.

"Education is the right of every citizen and the foundation of both individual and national development. Through education, people acquire knowledge, skills, and the capacity to participate productively in economic and social development," Mashavu said.

She also called on development partners, private sector institutions, organizations, and the public to continue supporting TEA by contributing to the National Education Fund, emphasizing that their participation would accelerate the improvement of educational infrastructure and services across the country, enabling more children to access quality education.
