Deputy Minister for Works, Eng. Godfrey Kasekenya, has directed the Architects and Quantity Surveyors Registration Board (AQRB) to strengthen its digital presence and expand the use of online systems to improve service delivery and raise public awareness of its mandate, particularly in the issuance of building permits.
Speaking during an inspection tour of institutions under the Ministry of Works in Dodoma, Eng. Kasekenya said AQRB plays a critical role in the construction sector and should integrate its digital systems with those of other government institutions involved in construction to enhance efficiency and improve public access to services.
He emphasized that the Board should increase its visibility through digital platforms, social media and stakeholder engagement forums targeting business communities, political leaders and the general public.
"AQRB should promote its services more aggressively through digital platforms, social media and stakeholder seminars so that more Tanzanians understand its role and benefit from the services it provides," said Eng. Kasekenya.
The Deputy Minister also advised the Board to work closely with the Government in drafting the proposed Building Act, which is expected to strengthen the building permit system and improve the overall governance of the construction sector.
In addition, he urged AQRB to invest in continuous staff training while promoting professionalism, innovation, integrity and hard work to enhance institutional performance.
Meanwhile, Acting Registrar of AQRB, Arch. Dr. Daniel Matondo, said the Board has continued to register professionals, consulting firms and construction projects, while also conducting Continuous Professional Development (CPD) training programmes in the Arusha and Morogoro regions.
He added that AQRB has strengthened collaboration with international professional bodies, including those within the Southern African Development Community (SADC), a move aimed at enhancing professional competitiveness and promoting knowledge exchange in the construction industry.
